We would like to Introduce you to our Deacons and their families.

Gary Rogers

I was born October 18, 1960, in Talladega, AL. I am the oldest of two sons born to the (late) Bill and Billie Rogers of Selma, AL. My brother, Jeff Rogers, in Florence, AL. My mother Billie still lives in Selma.
My wife is Claire (Pennington) Rogers. Claire was born and raised in Columbus, MS. We met in a Christian Single Group on a canoe trip at Tishomingo State Park (MS). This was in the late summer of 1986. We married on April 18, 1987.
We have three children, Atwell, Austin and Angela, who have given us eight grandchildren (six boys, two girls).
I graduated from Bessemer Technical College in 1982 with a degree in Industrial Electronics. My entire career has been in the pulp and paper industry. I am presently employed at International Paper in Columbus, MS.
I enjoy the outdoors, kayaking, cycling, fishing, and just plain working, such as carpentry, cutting timber, etc. The Lord gave me the gift of service, which I think he double dipped me in it, I truly love helping others.
I have many favorite verses but if I have to call one out, it is John 3:16 because I do not deserve it, but He loves me anyway.

Charles (Charlie) Gregory

Born on Easter Sunday morning in Columbus, MS on April 18, 1965. The fourth of five children of Elvis Gregory and Barbara Riley Gregory. Married to Rita Nabors Gregory on October 26, 1991. We met in 1st grade Sunday school class at Pinehaven Baptist Church where my father was pastor, and where Rita spent many a days in the preacher's office being lectured for her bad behavior! We have two daughters, Lara Frasher (Chad) and Riley Potts, and one grandson, Walker Potts.
After high school, I worked at American Bosch for six years, then Weyerhaeuser Paper Company for 22 years until the doors closed. The last 14 years I have been self-employed with a lawn and landscaping business.
My family began attending First Baptist Church of Pickensville in the summer of 1995 while camping on the river. My mother-n-law, Jodie Nabors, practically made us come to church with her. I was saved a few months later, on August 29, 1995, at the age of 30. I was ordained as deacon on January 17, 1999.
Favorite Verse: "Therefore, do unto others as you would have them do unto you, for this is the law." Matthew 7:12

Jonathan McDaniel

Almost a Leap Year baby, I was born late February 28, 1994, in Tuscaloosa to Tim and Marnetta McDaniel. I like to believe I am an only child because my parents stopped at perfection.
My wonderful wife, Parker, and I married in September of 2017. We met in 2015 while working a summer job at Dee River Ranch. While we don't have any kids, we do have five beloved dogs that bring us much joy.
I was saved at ten years old during VBS at West End Baptist Chruch. After a very spiritually moving youth trip with Aliceville Baptist Chruch when I was 17. I felt God really take hold on my life and my relationship with Him deepened. My parents and I came to FBC Pickensville when I was 18 and have been here ever since. I have enjoyed stepping into service in the church by helping run the sound system and serving on various committees and as a deacon since my ordination in April of 2023.
After graduating high school in 2012, I began working part time as a driver for Cameron's Quail Preserve before dropping out of college to work full time as a guide. In April of this year, I said goodbye to CQP and began working with my dad at his NAPA Auto Parts Store in preparation for taking it over.
My wife would tell you my hobbies are staying up late on my gaming console with friends, continuously adding to my firearms collection, and fishing with friends on occasion if it's not too hot. I also enjoy bird hunting with my Boykin Spaniel, Nellie.
Favorite Verse: "For husbands, this means love your wives, just as Christ loved the church. He gave up his life for her." Ephesians 5:25

Richie Schoolar

Richard (Richie) Schoolar, entered the world October 14, 1963, in Louisville, MS. I had the greatest parents of all time, J.L. and Betty Schoolar.
I am the youngest of four children. Mom and dad thought that was enough after the Lord blessed them with the perfect child.
I asked Jesus into my heart at 12 years old. I moved to West Point, MS in 1981, where I met my wife Anita Stafford Schoolar at Calvary Baptist Church. I coached the Ladies softball team at Calvary. Anita played on the team, but I kept her close by (you know, to help me keep stats and stuff). We became close friends. Her parents did not approve of our age difference for dating. I moved to Columbus, MS in 1983 for work at Green Line Equipment. One day after work in February of 1984, I found a note she had left on my truck. We were married on August 9, 1984. We were blessed with two children Kyle (April 19, 1988) and Max (April 7, 1992).
I was ordained as a deacon in 1989 at East View Baptist Chruch in the New Hope Community.
I worked at Columbus Nissan from February of 1985 until June of 2000. I have been a firefighter for the city of Tuscaloosa for the past 21 years.
We have been attending church here in Pickensville since 1993.
Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men. Colossians 3:23

I am happily retired from contracting and carpentry (roofing). I love to go fishing and spending time with my grandchildren. I love Alabama Football, Roll Tide!
